Lake Langvatnet is the reservoir for the power plant. The reservoir is regulated between 41 and 43.7 metres above sea level. The power plant is equipped with two Francis turbines.
Ranaelva was the first river in the Statkraft system to be covered by minimum rate of water flow regulations. Water is periodically transferred to Lake Langvatn by damming the river at Reinforsen. Reinforsen power plant was built in 1925 and also uses Lake Langvatnet as a reservoir.
Good Environmental Choice
The power plant is certified for Bra Miljöval (Good Environmental Choice). The label is managed by Svenska Naturskyddsföreningen and is a Swedish ecolabel with strict criteria for environmental protection of power plant operations. The label ensures that the electricity is generated in a sustainable way, considering both the environment, flora and fauna around the power plant.
