The heating plant at Bugården in Sandefjord Municipality has been operating since 2015.

The main network is 10 kilometres long and supplies several large commercial buildings in the Municipality, including the city hall, Sandefjord secondary school, the swimming hall, Kamfjord nursing home and the hotel Scandic Park Sandefjord.
The district heating plant at Sandefjord chiefly makes use of bio-energy sourced from the local area. The heating plant at Bugården produces heat from bioenergy in the form of solid biofuels, flue gas condensation, biofuel, and electricity and oil. In addition, two heat pumps are located at Kilen pier, connected to the district heating system.
