Khimti is a run-of-river hydropower plant located in Dolakha and Ramechhap District, approximately 100km east of Khatmandu.
The power plant utilizes a gross head of 684m in Khimti river, a tributary to the Tamakoshi river.
The installation in the powerhouse consists of five double jet pelton turbines. The power is transferred to the outdoor transformers where the voltage is increased to 132 kilovolts for supply to the national grid and 33 kilovolts for local supply.
The construction period was over 48 months from June 1996 to June 2000. The project was constructed on time and on budget and in accordance with the highest quality standards.
