“Working at Statkraft is an incredible journey of discovery in the world of renewable energy and business.”
What was your dream job as a kid and what is your current role at Statkraft?
As a child, my dream job was to be a navigator, exploring the seas and discovering new cultures. I grew up close to the sea so it was quite natural to think about what might be behind the horizon. Although I’m not a navigator today, working with Statkraft on hydrogen projects feels like navigating new and uncharted territories. It’s an incredible journey of discovery in the world of renewable energy and business.
Before joining the Statkraft trainee programme, I expected to find a multicultural universe, a diverse company where I could meet and learn from different people with different backgrounds. This is what I’ve found and I’m proud to work in renewables, a business area that has a strong purpose.
Tell us about your trainee experience so far!
During my current rotation I work within our hydrogen department, a quite new business area. A typical day involves being challenged and challenging my colleagues on our various different projects. We have meetings, discuss innovative approaches, and strive to find the best economic solutions for producing, storing, and utilizing hydrogen.
I grew up and lived in France before joining Statkraft. My rotation so far is primarily within Norway which offers me the chance to explore a completely new culture. Learning to work with a Norwegian team has been fascinating and different, offering insights into how we can further improve renewable energy solutions.
The most surprising thing I’ve learned about working with renewable energy so far is the tremendous potential for improvement. It’s a significant opportunity to contribute to a better world by enhancing how renewable energy is produced and used.
What would you say to a friend who was interested in the programme?
The best thing about being a trainee at Statkraft is the international experience. It’s an amazing opportunity to visit Norway and other countries, work in a multicultural environment, and learn both technical skills related to renewables and soft skills through discussions with colleagues. Living in a new country and learning from its culture has been enriching and eye-opening.
I believe the future of green energy holds immense promise, with a growing demand and potential for innovation. To anyone considering joining Statkraft's trainee programme, I’d say jump on board!
